How the Online Presence Score works

January 14, 2026 · scores, methodology

Every business listed on myonlinepresence.ai carries an Online Presence Score from 0 to 100. It is a composite of six signals, each weighted by how much it affects whether a local customer finds and trusts a business.

The six signals

**Website (22%)** — Does a live, mobile-friendly site exist? Does it load quickly, name the services clearly, and list a real address and phone number? A business with no website starts from a very low base here, because there is nothing for search engines or AI assistants to read.

**Reputation (20%)** — Published ratings and review volume across the major platforms. Recency matters: a steady trickle of new reviews signals an active business more strongly than a large lifetime total that stopped three years ago.

**Local SEO (18%)** — Whether the business name, address and phone number match across directories, and whether the site has pages that target the actual city and service a customer would search for.

**AI visibility (17%)** — How often an AI assistant names this business when asked for the service in this city. This is the newest signal and the one most businesses have never measured.

**Content (13%)** — Service pages, project photos, pricing guidance and pages that were updated recently rather than in 2019.

**Social (10%)** — Whether branded profiles exist, are active, and are linked from the website.

What the score is not

It is not a quality rating of the work itself. A superb contractor with no website will score badly, and that is the point: the score measures how findable a business is online, not how good the crew is. Scores shown for unclaimed listings are estimates derived from public information, and they are labelled as such.

Improving it

The fastest gains almost always come from the same three moves: publish a real website with one page per service and city, get the business name, address and phone consistent everywhere it appears, and ask recent customers for reviews.
